Cannabis, THC worth €229k seized in Waterford, 2 arrested

Two people have been arrested following a drugs seizure in Lismore, Co Waterford.

A total of €229,000 worth of suspected illegal cannabis and THC was seized as part of an intelligence-led operation.

Revenue Customs Officers seized 10.35 kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €207,000.

Further products containing suspected THC, worth an estimated €22,000, were seized by gardaí during a follow-up search.

A man, aged in his 40, and a woman, aged in her 30s, were arrested.

They are currently being held under Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act at a garda station in Co Waterford.

Gardaí have said that the seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, and investigations are ongoing.
