The two men who died on the Mourne Mountains in Co Down yesterday have been named.
Sean Byrne was in his 60s and from Camlough in Co Armagh.
Robbie Robinson was a retired RUC Chief Superintendent from Banbridge in Co Down.
They died after separate accidents on Wee Binnian and Slieve Commedagh yesterday afternoon.
Volunteers from the Mourne Mountain Rescue Service, supported by the PSNI and ambulance crews, responded when the alert was raised but the two men had suffered fatal injuries.
A third man who suffered a suspected broken ankle following a fall elsewhere on the Mournes was brought to hospital by a helicopter crew.
Heavy winds, gusting at more than 90km/h, made conditions very difficult yesterday afternoon.
The Craobh Rua Camlocha hurling club in Co Armagh paid tribute to Mr Byrne, who was a former treasurer of the club.
The club expressed their "deepest sympathies to the families of both those killed whilst climbing yesterday."
