Donegal County Council has said that 47 families have so far registered as being displaced following last week’s floods.
Twenty-one of those lived in Burnfoot, 14 in Buncrana and the remainder in Carndonagh, Muff, Clonmany and Malin.
It is likely that some families will not be able to return to their homes for some time, but the council says it is working closely with each family on a case-by-case basis.
The council also said that in relation to the damage to the road network in the county, the assessment is on-going and it is expected a ball park cost for the repairs will be available at the end of the week.

So far 300 issues have been identified with the road network, ranging from extensive structural damage to bridges on strategic regional roads to stretches of rural roads being washed away.
A number of roads remain closed but others have been re-opened including the R238 Gortaran and R238 Cockhill.
Many parts of the northwest suffered severe flood damage in last Tuesday night's freak rainfall.
Minister of State with responsibility for Flood Relief Kevin 'Boxer' Moran has said the clean-up operation is going to be enormous.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited the area last week and said that additional funding will be made available to Donegal County Council for repairs.
He also said a number of other humanitarian assistance schemes will be available to home and business owners and there will be a very strong Government response to support the people of Donegal.
Temporary bridge to be installed
A temporary bridge structure known as a "bailey bridge" has been secured from the Defence Forces by the council as it continues to tackle the widespread damage to roads and bridges in Inishowen.
The bailey bridge will be put in place on the R240 at Riverside between Quigley's Point and Carndonagh and will allow the council to open a one-lane road at that point, hopefully by Monday evening.
Council staff, contractors and soldiers from Finner Camp continue to work on the clean-up and recovery operation in the wake of the floods.
