The parent organisation of the Dublin based Science Gallery is to host its first foreign pop-up exhibition.
Science Gallery International will open Science Gallery Lab in Detroit later this year in a partnership with Michigan State University.
Already the organisation has or is in the process of opening permanent galleries, modelled on the original Dublin one, in London, Melbourne, Bengaluru and Venice.
But these new pop-up labs will be three-year facilities, led by the local community, which will aim to quickly develop shows with strong social goals.
The labs try to combine art, science and technology to make it appealing and engaging for 15-25 year olds.
Supported by Google.org, Science Gallery International was set up five years ago with a plan to create a network of science and art focused galleries around the world that have links to universities.
