Pedestrian in 80s critical after being knocked down in Longford town

A man in his 80s is in a critical condition after being knocked down in Longford town this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident involving a car and a pedestrian on Earl Street at around 10am.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin where he is said to be in a critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing for information and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

They have made a particular appeal for road users who may have camera footage including dash cam footage and who were in the area between 9.45am and 10.15am to make it available to them.
