Man held after pouring boiling water over man in court

Police have made an arrest after boiling water was poured over a man in a Co Tyrone courthouse.

The incident happened at Strabane Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The victim suffered injuries to his face and upper body which required hospital treatment.

A 34-year-old male suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He faces further charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon with intent.

He remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Ballentine said: "We continue to appeal to anyone with information, or footage which may have captured the suspect leaving the scene, to get in touch with police."
