No certainty for vulnerable people after Budget - Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin's finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty has said that the Government could have given "certainty" to those who are vulnerable, and to "plan for the future", but they failed to do so.
He was speaking in the Dáil after Ministers Paschal Donohoe and Michael McGrath announced Budget 2023.
Mr Doherty said they offered "tweaks" and "large numbers" but low- and middle-income workers will see "little change".
They have been "pushed to the bottom of the pile," he said.
He said that money and tax reliefs will be swallowed by runaway inflation and rising rents.
A refusal to cap energy prices leaves people exposed to more price hikes, he added.
