The Hot School Meals Programme has been expanded with 900 more primary schools joining the scheme.
It means that an additional 150,000 children will benefit from what are described as nutritious hot meals.
The announcement was made by Taoiseach Simon Harris and Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys today while visiting St Thomas' National School in Lucan, Dublin.
Primary schools which have not yet joined the scheme can now express an interest and they will be enlisted in the coming months.
The Taoiseach said the scheme, which was launched as a pilot five years ago, has seen huge demand ever since.
The Government has brought forward its target of offering hot meals to all primary pupils by five years to 2025.
Ms Humphreys said this was "ahead of our original target to make Hot School Meals universal in Primary Schools by 2030".
The Hot School Meals Programme was introduced in 2019 as a small pilot of 30 schools and it now covers more than 2,000 primary schools.
