People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy has said he was assaulted by protesters outside the Dáil this afternoon.
Mr Murphy was leaving Leinster House to take part in a separate protest with defective homeowners when he was surrounded by a group of people on Molesworth Street.
The Dublin South West TD said he was kicked during the incident, during which people shouted and chanted at him.
Gardaí came to the TD's assistance and separated him from the crowd.
Mr Murphy said he has not yet decided if he will report the alleged assault to gardaí.
He said he was disappointed that the actions of the crowd that surrounded him took away from what he described as the "important protests that were taking place".
