Dublin Lord Mayor and Green Party Councillor Hazel Chu has declined to confirm whether she will seek a nomination to run for the party in the upcoming Dublin Bay South by-election.

Speaking at the launch of the Green Party's maternity care plan, Ms Chu said she did not want to take away from the report.

It is understood that Ms Chu is likely to announce her bid tomorrow.

Councillor Claire Byrne has already confirmed that she will seek a nomination.

The candidate will be decided by a vote of local Dublin Bay South Green Party members.

The Greens' roadmap for maternal care calls for the creation of a family-centred plan for maternity care, two years of funding for the National Breastfeeding Action Plan and supporting the milk bank scheme across Ireland.
