This week saw the Government largely on the back foot in its attempt to defend its stance on pay for student nurses and midwives.
The issue has been rumbling since Solidarity-People Before Profit tabled a motion last week to compensate them for their efforts during the pandemic.
However, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar was on the attack in the Dáil today.
He said that last week's motion was non-binding, unfunded and not worth a single euro to a single student nurse.
The Government has committed to both short-term and long-term reviews of the situation.
