The Taoiseach and the Tánaiste have arrived in New York ahead of the launch of Ireland's bid for a seat on the UN Security Council.

The Government is hoping to secure a two-year term in 2021, competing against Canada and Norway for a seat on the council.

Ireland will have to secure enough votes from other UN member states and its campaign will be officially launched in New York tomorrow.

As part of Ireland's bid, all UN Ambassadors have been invited to a U2 concert this evening in Madison Square Garden.
