A 15-year-old girl has created a social media storm, by using her fridge to tweet after her mother reportedly confiscated her phone and electronic devices.

The Ariane Grande fan, whose name is Dorothy, but tweets from the handle @thankunext327, initially sent a tweet from her Nintendo DS.

According to the Guardian, the punishment came as a result of Dorothy causing a fire by not paying attention while cooking.

Using her cousin's iPad, she told the Guardian: "She took all my tech so I’d pay more attention to my surroundings. I felt mortified! I was worried because I’ve been bored all summer and Twitter passes the time for me."

After her phone was confiscated, Dorothy’s first workaround was discovered – and her mum took her Nintendo DS away too, announcing the move to the world.

Not to be silenced, Dorothy then used a Nintendo Wii – but that too was rumbled.

When her mother again confiscated all of her electronics, the teen kept her cool, and turned to her family’s smart fridge, managing to reach out to her followers again.

Dorothy is hoping to get her phone back soon – and has some powerful supporters, including both the fridge manufacturer, and Twitter itself.
