Man dies after wall collapses on farm in Cork

A 50-year-old man has died and another man has been seriously injured after a wall they were building in west Cork collapsed on them this afternoon.

The incident happened on a farm at Kilmore, around 7km from Bandon, shortly before 4pm.

Gardaí and emergency services responded.

The 50-year old man was pronounced dead there. His body remains at the scene this evening.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on his body at Cork University Hospital later.

The second man has been brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified, and inspectors from the authority are due to attend the scene, which remains preserved.

Gardaí said a file will be prepared for the coroner's court.
