Investigation after man seriously injured in Cork stabbing

A man in his 40s remains in a critical condition after he was stabbed a number of times during a row at Quaker Road in Cork city centre last night.

Emergency services were called to an incident at Quaker Street at around 10pm.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he underwent surgery overnight for a number of stab wounds. He remains in intensive care where his condition is said to be critical.

The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place around Quaker Street.
