Cork County Council has said it is satisfied, following consultations with the HSE, that adequate mitigation measures are in place to manage any risks at the site of an overnight fire at a recycling facility at Knockgriffin in Midleton.
The council said it is continuing to engage with An Garda Síochána and the HSE in relation to the fire.
The fire was reported just after midnight and was brought under control at around 4am this morning. There were no injuries.
Six units from the county's fire-fighting service in Midleton and Cobh attended the blaze. On-site monitoring is continuing there.
The council said part of the Northern Relief Road in Midleton was closed overnight but has since reopened.
"Weather conditions will reduce the impact of smoke in the vicinity, with rainfall likely to continue throughout the day," the council said in a statement.
"The public is advised to stay away from the area and if there is any smoke in the vicinity of your home you should keep windows and doors closed as a precaution."
