A man in his 40s has been arrested following an assault at a house in Cork city this morning.
A woman in her 20s was injured in the incident which happened shortly after 9.40am.
She received medical treatment after being stabbed at her home on Evergreen Street, her injury is described as non-life threatening.
The woman raised the alarm when she fled her home with a young child.
Up to 10 gardaí, including members of the Garda Armed Response Unit, responded to the emergency call.
In a follow up search, a garda helicopter was deployed and the man was arrested. He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a garda station in the Cork City area.
Investigating gardaí at Anglesea Street have appealed for witnesses.
