More than 80 trade union members have taken part in a rally outside Cork City Hall calling for a ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon.
The rally was organised by the Cork Council of Trade Unions as part of a number of events taking place across the country this week.
Among the unions representated were Forsa, Connect and SIPTU, whose Divisional Organiser Adrian Kane called for the enactment of the Occupied Territories Bill to place economic sanctions on products and services produced on Palestinian land but then taken away from there.
Mr Kane said "the Irish Government needs to step up to the plate, like when it recognised the State of Palestine, by looking for EU economic sanctions against Israel".
