The body of a man in his 60s, who was reported missing after going kayaking off the Co Waterford coast yesterday, has been found.
The man went kayaking from Ceann Heilbhic near Dungarvan in Co Waterford, shortly after 11.30am yesterday.
The alarm was raised with the Coast Guard shortly before 5.30pm yesterday and a search operation began.
It resumed at first light this morning and the man's body was found by Bonmahon Coast Guard unit at around 8.30am off Ballyvoyle head, Co Waterford.
The man's body was recovered from the water by a naval service RIB and brought to the RNLI station at Ceann Heilbhic.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.
The search was coordinated by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin and the navy's inshore patrol vessel LÉ Aoibhinn.
Coast Guard units and teams from Heilbhic, Bonmahon, Dunmore East, Tramore, Ardmore and Youghal took part in the search, as well as the Rescue 117 helicopter.
The Coast Guard has offered its sincere condolences to the man's family and friends.
