This morning, 20-year old Ricardo Hoey of Ardcarrig, Carrigaline, and 19-year old Jordan Deasy of Ravensdale, Heron's Road, Carrigaline, were brought before the district court in Cork charged with Mr O'Neill's murder.

Detective Garda Declan Healy gave evidence of arresting the two men and charging them with Mr O'Neill's murder.

He said they made no reply when the charges were read to them.

Sergeant Pat Lyons said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed trial on indictment at the Central Criminal Court in both cases.

Solicitor for Mr Deasy, Eddie Burke, said his client would be pleading not guilty and a book of evidence would be required.

Solicitor for Ricardo Hoey, Frank Buttimer, said a signed plea of guilty would not arise in his client's case and a book of evidence would be required.

Judge Olann Kelleher pointed out that bail cannot be granted in the district court on a charge of murder and he remanded both in custody.

They will be before the court again in a week, via video link.
