A woman who was seriously injured in a collision outside Adare, Co Limerick on Friday, has died.

The woman - aged in her 40s - was driving a 4x4 vehicle and was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries on Friday. She died yesterday.

The incident, involved a car and a jeep, happened at around 3pm on Good Friday on the N21 at Kilgobbin.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí are investigating and a technical examination of the scene was completed.

They are appealing to witnesses, particularly road users who may have camera footage, to come forward.
