A boil water notice affecting some 9,500 people supplied by the Whitegate Regional Water Supply Scheme in east Cork, has been lifted.

This follows consultation with the Health Service Executive.

The ban was imposed on 16 February last following issues with the quality of water supplying the treatment plant.

Remedial works have since been carried out.

This is one in a series of Boil Water Notices imposed on local residents since 2016, following ongoing problems with water turbidity and filtration issues at the Dower treatment plant.
