More than 200 people will spend tonight in the terminal building at Cork Airport after they were stranded by a combination of cancelled flights and bad weather.
Hotels at the airport are booked out and many people, including staff, passengers who arrived early for departing flights and passengers who could not travel to their final destinations after arriving on flights into Cork, have been forced to spend the night at the airport.
There is no public transport operating between the airport and Cork City and taxis are in low supply.
Staff at the airport have been trying to source camp beds and blankets through agencies like the Civil Defence.
Several Aer Lingus regional flights scheduled for tomorrow between Cork and the UK have already been cancelled.
A decision on a number of other Aer Lingus flights from Cork to Paris, Amsterdam, Malaga and Heathrow will be made in the morning.
Management at Cork Airport is urging passengers to contact their airlines before leaving for the airport.
