Investigation into fires at two Westmeath churches

Investigations are continuing by gardaí in Co Westmeath into two fires that took place at Kilbeggan and Castletown Geoghegan parish churches.

Gardaí say they attended a scene of criminal damage at a premises in Castletown Geoghegan in the early hours of Friday morning.

They said they were alerted at around 4.30am on Friday morning.

Separately, gardaí say they attended a scene of criminal damage by fire at a church in Kilbeggan on Friday morning.

It is understood damage was caused to the front doors of both churches.
