Trim Haymaking Festival, which was scheduled to take place in the Co Meath town today, has been cancelled owing to the recent inclement weather.
The organisers of the event said they have taken the difficult decision to call off today's festival in the interests of health and safety due to poor ground conditions.
The festival, which is presented by the Scurlogstown Olympiad and attracts large crowds each year, was due to return to the Porchfields in Trim today for its 25th edition.
With the theme of "making hay while the sun shines", this year's festival promised an "unforgettable day of heritage displays, music, competitions, and family fun".
However, Co Meath was one of several counties that was came under separate Status Yellow thunderstorm and rainfall warnings yesterday.

Met Éireann had said that the heavy falls of rain forecast yesterday could lead to localised flooding.
In a statement this morning, the organisers confirmed that the event had fallen victim to the inclement weather.
The statement read: "Due to the current ground conditions and in the interest of everyone's health and safety, we have made the difficult decision to call off the Trim Haymaking Festival for today, Sunday, June 15th.
"We know how much everyone looks forward to this event, but safety must come first. Thank you for your understanding and support.
"We will be in contact with everyone we need to contact," the statement concluded.
This year’s festival was expected to attract hundreds of families, international visitors and heritage enthusiasts.
