A man aged in his 80s has died following a house fire near Castlepollard in Co Westmeath.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at Gilbertstown at around 1am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to the mortuary at Regional Hospital Mullingar.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.
