A Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) investigation into a fatal hit-and-run in Co Louth almost one year ago has been completed.
A file in relation to the incident has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The hit-and-run took place on the Rathmullan Road in Drogheda in the early hours of St Patrick's Day last year.
Niall McEneaney, 42, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí said the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
Mr McEneaney was well known in the locality as a GAA coach and former Louth hurler.
GSOC subsequently launched an investigation after receiving a referral about the matter from gardaí, and a member of An Garda Síochána was suspended.
An official garda car was not involved in the incident, nor was an on-duty member of the gardaí.
Last April, a member of An Garda Síochána was arrested and questioned in relation to the incident.
Today, GSOC confirmed that its investigation has been completed and a file has been sent to the DPP.
In a brief statement, a spokesperson said: "GSOC has completed its investigation and cannot comment further on the investigation as the matter is now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
"The DPP is independent in its functions, pursuant to Section 2(5) of the Prosecution of Offences Act, 1974," the statement concluded.
