It is believed the waste was dumped late last night or early this morning

An investigation is under way after an estimated two truckloads of waste was illegally dumped on a road in Co Meath.

The load, containing rubble, household waste and toys, is believed to have been dumped late last night or in the early hours of this morning.

Meath County Council said that investigations are under way to identify the source of the illegal dumping.

A clean-up operation was carried out by workers from the council.

The rubbish blocked a local road between Kinnegad and Ballinabrackey, and the road has been re-opened.

It has appealed for information and asked for anyone with information to contact environment@meathcoco.ie.
