A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Catherine Henry.
The body of the 62-year-old was found in her home on Bridge Street in Dundalk last Wednesday 24 May.
Luke Donnelly, of no fixed abode, appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court this evening.
Detective Sergeant Noel Mohan, of Dundalk Garda Station, gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
He told the court that Luke Donnelly was charged at 8.52pm this evening.
Solicitor Aimee McCumiskey made an application for legal aid for the accused and handed a statement of means into the court.
She asked the Judge to recommend that Mr Donnelly receive the appropriate medical and psychiatric attention.
Judge Gerard Jones remanded Luke Donnelly in custody to Cloverhill Prison in Dublin.
He will appear again before Dundalk District Court via videolink next Wednesday morning.
