Gardaí have confirmed that they are aware of a Traveller settlement at the Curragh in Co Kildare, which consists of members of the Travelling community that arrived from the UK earlier this month.

Gardaí say they have been liaising with the occupants along with other agencies, to ensure they adhere to national Covid-19 guidelines.

The Traveller representative organisation Pavee Point is among the agencies engaging with the group, which consists of a number of Traveller families.

They arrived from the UK by ferry around 9 or 10 April.

When Covid-19 restrictions were introduced last month, Pavee Point told members of the community that it was not a time for nomadism.
