Gardaí are questioning a 33-year-old man after another man was found dead at his home in Ashbourne in Co Meath in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí were called to a house in Johnswood Drive at around 12.30am.
It is believed the victim, a 65-year-old man, may have been the victim of an assault and died after he was punched and fell down the stairs.
The scene was preserved and a forensic examination took place today.
The victim's body was removed for a post-mortem.
The 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene in the early hours of this morning and was detained on suspicion of assault causing harm.
He is still being questioned tonight at Ashbourne Garda Station.
It is believed he knew the victim
He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned for a total of 24 hours.
