Two men killed in separate crashes in Louth and Roscommon

Two men have died in separate road crashes in counties Louth and Roscommon, bringing to three the number of people killed on Irish roads across the bank holiday weekend.

In Co Louth, a motorcyclist in his 50s died following a collision involving two motorcycles and an SUV on the N52 at Dunmahon shortly before 12.30pm yesterday..

The second motorcyclist, who is in his 40s, was seriously injured and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

The driver of the SUV, a man in his 40s, was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area of the N52 near Dunmahon, Co Louth between 12.15pm and 12.45pm on 31 May, to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 938 8400, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Earlier, a man in his 60s died following a single-car crash in Carrigans Park, Donamon, in Co Roscommon.

The man, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

Gardaí are appealing to road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area of Carrigans Park, Donamon, Co Roscommon, between 5am and 9am to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090 663 8300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Yesterday, a man in his 20s died following a road crash on the R121 at The Ward, Finglas, Co Dublin.
