Gardaí in Cork are treating the death of a man whose body was found following a fire in the city last night as suspicious.
The man's body was found following a fire at an apartment on Togher Road in the southside of the city.
The man, who was 62, has been named locally as Michael O'Sullivan.
A garda technical examination took place today at the flat in the three-storey building near the Lough.
Door-to-door enquiries are also taking place.
Four units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the property at 6.50pm yesterday evening and brought the fire under control.
The fire was contained within one room at the flat.
A second person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The first floor flat on the Togher Road in the city was cordoned off for the technical forensic examination and the State Pathologist's examination.
A post-mortem examination will take place tomorrow at Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí said the results of the post-mortem, along with a technical examination of the scene, will guide the ongoing investigation.
