Two teenagers have been arrested as part of an investigation into a suspected assault in Mullingar last weekend, which has left a man in a critical condition.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested this morning for questioning about the incident, which occurred on Grove Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A man in his 30s was found with serious injuries at around 1am and brought to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the areas around Grove Street and Mullingar Town centre between 12.30am and 1.30am on 14 December are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
