Three people have been killed following a two-car collision in Co Meath.
Gardaí say the crash occurred at the N52 in Kells at around 4.25pm yesterday.
The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 20s, and a passenger, a man also aged in his 20s, were killed. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man died while being brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
They have been named as Saoirse Corrigan and Shane Gilchrist, both from Castlepollard in Co Westmeath.
A woman in her mid-20s, who was driving the second car, was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown with serious injures, but was later pronounced dead.
Three children who were travelling in the second car - two baby girls and a 12-year-old boy - were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. One has since been transferred to CHI Temple Street.
The boy is said to be in a serious condition, while the girls' injuries are not life-threatening.
The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses, particularly any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage, including dashcam, to contact Kells Garda Station on 046 9280820 the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
