The second report into CervicalCheck issues by Dr Gabriel Scally is due soon, after a spokesperson for the Minister for Health said that Dr Scally had sought additional time to complete his report.
In mid-February, the Oireachtas Health Committee heard that the report was expected within days.
Scally Two is examining outstanding issues with a former laboratory used in the United States that was outsourcing CervicalCheck screening tests in Texas, Hawaii and Florida.
The issue came to light during the work of the first inquiry.
When it is completed, the report will go to Government and the women affected are due to be briefed before its release.
Dr Scally's first report identified serious gaps in the expertise and governance of the CervicalCheck screening programme.
Meanwhile, the latest report from the CervicalCheck Steering Committee has said that 63% of women affected have consented to the independent review of around 1,800 slides by a team from the Royal College of Gynaecologists in the UK.
The number of slides required from each laboratory has also been identified - Quest has 1,072, Sonic has 651 and the Coombe has 70.
"Labs have begun the slide retrieval process and it is hoped transfer of slides will begin shortly", the report of the 22 January meeting states.

The 50 recommendations of the Scally Review
In a statement, the Department of Health said that following the publication of the Report of the Scoping Inquiry into the CervicalCheck Screening Programme on 12 September 2018, Dr Scally committed to providing a supplementary report into certain aspects of the laboratories, such as procurement, quality and accreditation arrangements and governance structures.
It said that the terms of reference for the supplementary analysis and report were published on the Department of Health's website in October last year.
"Dr Scally has advised the Minister that the breadth and complexity of the issues involved in the supplementary report require further time.
"However, Dr Scally has advised the Minister that he has found no reason to revise the view taken in his earlier report, that as far as can be ascertained, all the current laboratories have performance which is acceptable in their country," the statement added.
The department said that to date, around 590 CervicalCheck slides have been transferred for the review and all slides from the Coombe have also been transferred
