Leaving Certificate students will receive offers of college places on 7 September, four days after they receive their exam results.
The CAO has revised its date for round one offers and subsequent deadlines following the announcement earlier this week of the later than usual Leaving Certificate results date.
This year's results will be issued on 3 September.
The deadline for acceptance of round one CAO offers will be Monday, 13 September at 3pm.
The CAO has also urged all applicants to confirm their application online.
It said applicants must log in to their CAO account to confirm that all of their personal details, examination information, exemptions (if any) and course choices are recorded correctly on their accounts.
It said that if there are errors or omissions, applicants now have the opportunity to rectify this information online for no charge.
CAO communications officer, Eileen Keleghan, said: "The Statement of Application email is designed to ensure that applicants do not miss out on a place because some of their information is incorrect or missing; for example, if there is an incorrect examination number, or if an exemption is not recorded.
"If applicants notice the error now, they still have the opportunity to rectify it before its too late.
The CAO is advising applicants to read the instructions in an email they have received and on the Statement of Application Record page at www.cao.ie, and to log in and review their information.
