The online self-service portal for this year's Leaving Certificate students opened at midday and can be accessed over the next seven days.

It will enable students to register for examinations and accredited grades, or both options.

All students who are entered for the 2021 Leaving Certificate are required to create an account on the portal.

To register, candidates need their exam number, PPS number, a mobile phone number and their email address.

School-going and external candidates will be required to confirm their choice for each subject, and to confirm their subjects and levels.

Minister for Education Norma Foley has urged students to examine carefully the options available to them in sitting the written examinations and receiving the SEC Accredited Grades.

She said it was also important that students continue to engage with in-person learning and assessment so that teachers have further data to draw from when estimating marks.

A clear guide on how to use the portal is available on the Government website and has been circulated to schools.

All students will be required to access the portal a second time, in late April or early May, to confirm their choices.
