The family of Stephen Termini, the 57-year-old US tourist who was attacked in Dublin city centre last week, are at his hospital bedside after arriving in Ireland.

Mr Termini's sons Mike and Jesse Rizzuto landed in Dublin Airport this morning, before travelling directly to nearby Beaumont Hospital.

They are understood to be receiving assistance from a garda liaison officer, who is with them.

Mr Termini was attacked last Wednesday on the corner between Store Street and Talbot Street in Dublin's north inner city.

In the aftermath of the incident the family of Mr Termini, who has suffered life-changing injuries, raised more than $100,000 (€91,000) in funding for his care.

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has said she would be willing to meet his family if they so wish.

Three teenage boys have been charged with assault causing harm in relation to the attack on Mr Termini.
