A cultural event to mark the centenary of the Civil War in Ireland has taken place in Dublin.

The event was held at the National Concert Hall and was addressed by President Michael D Higgins, Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Tánaiste Leo Varadkar.

The programme for the event included traditional Irish and classical music, poetry and song.

Among the artists who took part were singer Iarla Ó Lionáird and uilleann piper Louise Mulcahy.

The National Symphony Orchestra also performed.

An academic address was given by Dr John Borgonovo of UCC's history department.
