The Minister for Transport has welcomed the National Transport Authority's decision to recommence the Nitelink bus service in Dublin from 22 October, subject to the Government's decision on easing restrictions.
The Nitelink provides late buses on weekends across 16 routes in the greater Dublin area.
Minister Eamon Ryan said the restoration of Nitelink buses will provide public transport in Dublin on weekend nights into the early hours of the morning.
"While Government still has to make a final decision on reopening after considering public health advice, we want to be ready to provide a service when the night-time economy reopens," the minister said.
The Nitelink runs alongside a number of 24-hour services which are already operating in Dublin seven days a week.
Minister Ryan said that as they continue the rollout of Bus Connects, they expect to introduce more 24-hour services.
