The Property Registration Authority has confirmed its Chancery Street offices were damaged in a suspected break-in over the weekend.
A spokesperson said a garda investigation is under way into the incident which occurred at the office which processes residential, commercial and farming property transactions.
The PRA said it appeared that documents had not been damaged, however some furniture and fittings were affected.
The Chancery Street office will remain closed for the rest of the day as gardaí conduct an investigation. It is expected to reopen tomorrow.
The PRA said its systems are available online and that other offices in Dublin, Waterford and Roscommon are open today.
