A coalition of groups involved in the occupation of a building on North Frederick Street in Dublin has protested outside the Department of Housing on Custom House Quay.

They accused Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy of failing to carry through on a promise to meet them today.

A spokesman for Mr Murphy said a meeting was arranged for Leinster House, but did not go ahead because none of the groups represented would provide names of the people who would be coming.

At the protest outside the Custom House, around 50 protesters from 14 different groups heard speakers who accused Mr Murphy of utter failure in dealing with the housing crisis.

They called on Mr Murphy to resign and called on parties in the Dáil including Sinn Féin, Solidarity-PBP, the Social Democrats, the Green Party, Labour and Independents for Change to put forward a motion of no confidence in the minister.
