Two criminal gang members have lost their appeal against their conviction for the murder of Roy Collins in Limerick eight years ago.

Wayne Dundon and Nathan Killeen were sentenced to life in prison for the murder, and today the Court of Appeal upheld their convictions.

Roy Collins, a 35-year-old father of two who was engaged to be married, was shot dead at Coin Castle Amusements in Limerick on 9 April 2009.

His father, Steve Collins, was a target of the McCarthy/Dundon criminal gang because of his involvement in a previous successful prosecution against Dundon for a threat to kill.

Dundon was found to have ordered the murder, while Killeen was the getaway driver for the gunman.

Steve Collins was in court for the judgment, but Killeen and Dundon refused to come out to hear the verdict.

Both have been returned to prison to continue their life sentences.
