Gardaí are searching for a gang who robbed a post office on Ormond Quay in Dublin city centre this morning.

The gang accessed the post office by breaking through from an adjoining disused hotel.

Detectives believe four men were involved and escaped with around €14,000 in cash.

When the post mistress arrived for work she found a hole in the inside wall. A man walked through it, threatened her, took a bag of cash and walked out.

The alarm was raised at around 8.30am.

Gardaí suspect the gang escaped on motorcycles.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
