Detectives from the PSNI Serious Crime Branch have arrested a 41-year-old man in England on suspicion of murder in Derry.
The arrest was made by the PSNI, working in partnership with officers from the Greater Manchester Police, in connection with the death of a 73-year-old pensioner in Coleraine in 2001.
Norman Moffatt was stabbed between Railway Road and Circular Road as he was walking home after buying a newspaper in a local shop at about 7am on 26 January, 2001. He died in hospital nearly two months later.
The man was detained in the Stockport area and was to be brought back to Antrim for questioning.
Following the attack, which was captured on CCTV, Mr Moffatt managed to make it home to his wife and children.
He was taken to hospital and died almost two months later.
