A father of three who allegedly exposed himself and performed a sex act in front of a group of young girls playing near their homes in Dublin earlier this year has been remanded on continuing bail while the State has been given more time to prepare its case against him.
Mark Dolan, aged 48, formerly of Andrew Heights, Dún Brinn, Athy, Co Kildare, is accused of exposing himself and masturbating in front of young girls on 6 May 2023.
When he appeared at the Dublin District Court in May, an order preventing the media from identifying him was imposed.
However, it was subsequently lifted following a legal challenge by RTÉ last month.
Judge Treasa Kelly heard today that gardaí needed more time to get the DPP's directions which may not be available until October.
The defence said an application would be made to change Mr Dolan's bail conditions when the case resumes in September.
The mechanic did not address the court and has not indicated a plea.
Bail required a €3,000 independent surety, with a €1,000 cash lodgement.
According to the bail terms, Mr Dolan must sign on daily at a garda station, obey a 9pm to 6am curfew, and has had to surrender his passport.
He was also warned to stay away from the neighbourhood where the incident allegedly happened.
When the reporting restrictions were addressed, the court stressed that no information should be printed that could identify the children in this case.
RTÉ's lawyer argued that there were no grounds for the reporting restrictions on naming the accused and that while the allegations were serious, there were provisions in place about identifying the children.
The judge agreed and lifted reporting restrictions which had previously prevented Mr Dolan being named in the media.
