A 45-year-old man has pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a minor, soliciting a prostitute, and for filming a number of unnamed men in toilets.
Garfield Ebbs, of Fairfield Green, Farranree, Cork appeared before Cork Circuit Criminal Court where he pleaded guilty to five offences when he was arraigned before Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin.
Ebbs pleaded guilty to engaging in a sexual act with a 15-year-old boy at a location in Cork city on a date unknown between 1 September, 2018 and 25 May, 2019.
He also pleaded guilty to paying for engaging in sexual activity with a female prostitute at Kilbarry Industrial Estate, Dublin Hill, Cork on 7 January 2020.
Furthermore, Ebbs pleaded guilty to three counts of intentionally engaging in offensive conduct of a sexual nature by recording unknown males in toilet cubicles.
The charges stated that Ebbs filmed the men on his phone in toilets at Apple Computers, Hollyhill, Cork on 26 June 2016, also at Cork Airport on 31 March 2018, and at Blackpool Shopping Centre on 6 August 2019, and stored the clips on his phone.
Defence barrister Ray Boland, BL sought an adjournment of sentencing to allow his client to undergo psychological assessment.
Cork City State Solicitor Frank Nyhan said the State had no objection to an adjournment but was seeking the surrender of Ebb's passport.
Judge Ó Donnabháin granted the adjournment until 8 September next for sentence, remanding Ebbs on continuing bail to appear on that date, and ordered him to surrender his passport and not to apply for any new travel documents.
