A former schools rugby coach and teacher has pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting 23 schoolboys at Terenure College in the 1970s and 80s.
John McClean, 73, of Casimir Avenue, Harold's Cross, Dublin, was an English and drama teacher, who also coached rugby at the prestigious school.
He took up the position as director of rugby in UCD in the 1990s.
The 73-year-old had been due to go on trial for some of the charges today.
However, due to Covid-19 restrictions his case was mentioned instead and the judge was told he could be arraigned on 27 counts.
He pleaded guilty to all 27 charges of indecently assaulting the school boys on various unknown dates between September 1973 and June 1990.
