Two men who were being questioned in relation to a fire at a Co Galway hotel last December have been released without charge.

The men - one in his 40's, the other in his 50s - were detained yesterday morning and held overnight at a local station, before questioning resumed this morning.

They were both released from custody this afternoon and files are being prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Earlier, two women who were also detained yesterday were released without charge.

The arrests came as part of the ongoing investigation into an arson attack at a hotel in Conemara that had been selected as a site to house asylum seekers.

The Ross Lake House Hotel was extensively damaged in a fire on 16 December last.
